Candle Care & Safety
Candles should always be used responsibly and never left unattended while burning. Following the below safety instructions will help minimise risk and ensure your candle is enjoyed safely within the home.
1. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
2. Avoid burning near flammable objects, draughty areas, open windows, air ducts or fans.
3. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
4. Always burn candle on a stable and heat resistant surface.
5. Burn candle in a dry and well-ventilated space away from any moisture.
6. Use with caution in areas of high humidity or in steamy conditions (i.e. bathroom).
7. Keep wick centred and trimmed to 5 mm before lighting.
8. Place candle upright on a stable, level, heatproof, non-flammable base while burning.
9. Discontinue use when there is less than 12-15 mm of unmelted wax in the bottom of the jar.
10. Never move or touch a burning candle as jar may become hot. Allow candle to completely cool before handling or reigniting.
11. Keep wax pool clear of matches and debris.
Thoughtful candle care plays an important role in how your candle performs. From the first burn through to ongoing maintenance, following the below recommendations will help support an even burn, minimise soot and extend the life of your candle.
1. Set wax memory by burning to the edge during first use. Ensure you burn candle for 2 hours upon initial burn. Do not burn candle for less than one hour and more than 3 hours from there on as excess liquid wax can cause fire.
2. Where possible, use a candle snuffer to properly extinguish or blow gently until it is extinguished. Never use water or other liquids to extinguish a candle.
3. For dual wick candles, ensure both wicks are lit every time the candle is used.
4. Do not use if glass vessel is cracked, chipped or broken.
5. Do not allow the candle flame to come in contact with the side of the glass.
6. Keep the candle clean and free of wick trimmings, matches and any other flammable materials. Never introduce liquids or other foreign objects.
7. To prevent soot from forming on the glass, keep wicks properly centred and trimmed.
8. Soot residue that forms on the vessel can be cleaned using a dry cloth only when the candle is cool.
9. If you are burning more than one candle at a time, space your candles at least 15-20cm apart.
10. Never use a candle as a night light.
11. Over burning candle and not trimming wicks can compromise the candle’s safety.
For the best candle experience, always ensure wicks are trimmed before each burn, allow the wax pool to melt evenly across the surface and avoid overburning. Proper candle care not only supports performance and longevity, but also helps maintain the safety and integrity of the vessel over time.
