As the holiday season approaches, we have asked some of our staff at al.ive body to tell us what their all-time favourite Christmas movies are!

 

Kimmy: Senior Graphic Designer

The Holiday (2006)

Starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, this romantic comedy follows the story of two women, both desperately needing a change in location and in life, so they swap homes for the holidays, leading to unexpected romances. A heartwarming and witty film that captures the essence of love and life changes during the holiday season.

The Santa Clause (1994)

A heartwarming Christmas film from 1994 starring Tim Allen. When a man inadvertently becomes Santa Claus after a mishap on Christmas Eve, he must navigate the challenges of embracing his new role. This charming comedy explores the magic of Christmas and the importance of belief.

Christmas with the Kranks (2004)

Starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis this hilarious comedy is a must-watch. In a small town where the community is everything. The Kranks decide to skip Christmas to go on a tropical cruise just the two of them. However, their daughter unexpectedly decides to return home and they must rely on their neighbours and town to set up the annual Kranks Christmas Eve party before she arrives.

Home Alone (1990)

An all-time classic, this film tells the story of young Kevin McCallister, who is accidentally left behind by his family on their way to the airport. As Kevin realises he's been left alone he soon discovers there are two bandits who want to break into his family home. He uses his wit and resourceful home to fight them off.

Elf (2003)

Elf is Ali’s top pick and it's easy to see why. This modern classic tells the story of Buddy, a human who was raised by elves in the North Pole and believes he is an elf himself. When he discovers his true identity he embarks on a journey to find his real dad, in New York City. A heartwarming and hilarious film. 

 

 

 

Jamie: Graphic Designer

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009)

A unique take on a holiday movie, but nonetheless a must-watch. The story follows the infamous bachelor Connor Mead played by Matthew McConaughey. As he attends his brother's wedding, still stuck in his selfish ways, he learns along the way the hurt he has put onto his past girlfriends. Eventually realising love has been in front of him the whole time with his high school friend, Jenny played by Jennifer Garner. With the theme of redemption at Christmas time this movie makes for a great watch.

An adaption of Dr. Seuss’s beloved holiday classic. The film takes place in the whimsical town of Whoville and introduces us to the Grinch, a grumpy creature who despises Christmas. As the Whos in Whoville prepare for their festive celebrations, the Grinch's heart begins to soften from his new friendship with a little girl.

A British romantic comedy that weaves together multiple love stories set in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Featuring an all-star cast, Love Actually explores the complexities of love and relationships during the holiday season, making it a touching and memorable Christmas movie.
