Honouring the Women of al.ive body this International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a moment to reflect, celebrate, and acknowledge the incredible contributions of women—within our workplaces, our communities, and beyond. At al.ive body, we believe in uplifting and empowering the women around us, and today, we’re taking a moment to hear from some of our own team members about what IWD means to them.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
IWD is about celebrating myself and the women in my life by showing acknowledgment and appreciation for all they do for me. Surrounding myself with strong, inspiring women in my personal and professional life motivates me to push harder, grow, and reach my full potential, and it is important to put a spotlight on women every day.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It's so important to acknowledge this day for both men and women. To me it's not about focusing on the divide between male and female, but to come together as one to work on processors, initiatives and prioritising even smaller events like coffee and cake in your office on IWD. All this does make a difference. The gender gap is still largely a major problem, but if we instead focus on solving smaller issues and take the time to acknowledge and prioritise days like today, then slowly, I believe we will create change.
Is there a woman (historical or personal) who has inspired you in your career or life? Why?
Emma Isaacs (Australian Entrepreneur, founder of Business Chicks). I've been lucky enough to hear her speak and have read her books (which are amazing) - basically she is all about empowering women and creating opportunities through her company Business Chicks. She's also a Mum of 5 children which is amazing and something I truly admire.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women's Day to me means a chance to celebrate all that women are, not just the huge growth that women have achieved in the workplace over the years but also the special place we play in our community, our home, our families and life in general.
Is there a woman (historical or personal) who has inspired you in your career or life? Why?
My mother is always my greatest inspiration and who I aspire to be more like. She faces every challenge head on and every day works on developing herself to be her best possible self.

I lived a year in Moscow, where they REALLY celebrate IWD. 8th March IWD is actually a public holiday, and at my then-partner's workplace the day before, they set up a photo shoot podium where every female got a professional photo taken and given a bunch of flowers. At the metro stations, people will give out free flowers, and males will spoil females. It is a really fun festive holiday that makes females feel very special and appreciated.
